Mage req?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what a mage should have for build to do instances with and raids!

I heard some say full fire and others claim that full arcane is the way to go.
I don't see any use in frostbuilds, those are pvp builds I'd say.

Any thoughts?

Frost sucks and I'm going Arcane when I'm 70 for sure! Fire for leveling now (till 58)

As in giving free drinks and the likes, this is specially a nice thought since I remember Deutharias never giving me any water sooo it's handy to have AND it's almost free of charge (20 silver = nothing for a whole raid)

the best talents for a mage for raiding is fire frost is for pvp and leveling up

Hmm not sure if that much has changed but from my experience frost was no.1 by far.
Yes you dont have big fire bolt crits ( wich is good in raids you'd rather have steady damage instead of a oops-crit-death kinda mage)
Also iceblock can come in realy handy plus since as a mage your ussually no.1 AoE i think the expanded range , extra slowing effects etc are the most usefull for a raid.
FYI the time i raided with unity 1 frost mage always came in no. 1 on damagemeters, yes indeed not the rogues. I dont think that would have been possible with big crits at all.

It used to be fire that was most commonly used for pvp, big crits is pvp, altho now the water elemental owns arenas. And also quite a few mages go fire now only because SSC is a frost based instance where as you guess the mobs have lot of plus frost resistances.

Hmm Frost mage no I don't see how they make such huge dps in raids to be honest since they mostly rely on frozen targets with the huge crit chance. But since raid bosses are immume to these your dps drops like a brick.

Fire is dangerous you burn through your mana like a kid slurping down his icecream on a hot afternoon and add tons of aggro. But I think Arcane is very nice with the clear casts and instant attacks with PoM + Pyro you have steady dps if not the highest but who cares, if I do 8K pyroblasts and I over aggro we're all fucked no thank you

Frost is crowd control and lots of it, big AoE etc. Wich happen to be specific reasons to bring mages, dont expect them to do there biggest damage on boss fights but on all the trash before that. And belive me in Kara theres more then enough AOE packs to make it near to impossible for rogues - warriors to outdps them.
